PODU PURUSHAYA
Podu Purushaya (Metta) is a film inspired by the highly acclaimed award winning novel by Sunethra Rajakarunanayake. Set in Sri Lanka of the early 21st century, the film offers a vivid dramatization of two of the most basic human emotions: love and hatred. The film poses for the audience a question: Is love the binary opposite of hatred or its close kin?
Approaching the question from both a personal and a political angle, in keeping with the fact that the story is set in conflict-ridden Sri Lanka.
MOTHER DAUGHTER SISTER
Mother Daughter Sister is inspired by a true story of a female suicide bomber Kavitha who attempted to assassinate the Sri Lankan prime minister.
While on mission she was captured alive and is still under detention in a camp in the south of Sri Lanka.
PARADISE OF TEARS
Paradise In Tears is based on the historical Mark Anthony Bracegirdle Incident, a crucial event in Sri Lanka's struggle for independence from the British Empire. The film will be shot in locations in Sri Lanka, UK and Australia with an International cast. The film is currently in Script and Project Development stage and is looking for potential partners.
